Volunteer Training Information

Volunteer Application

Prior to training, each prospective volunteer will fill out an application at the local CASA program. Included in this application are a minimum of 3 reference checks. Prospective volunteers may not be chosen for CASA even if they pass a criminal background check.

Background Check

Prior to training, each prospective volunteer will undergo fingerprinting for the purposes of conducting a criminal background check. If a background check is returned with offenses that disqualify you from volunteering, you will not be able to volunteer for a CASA program.

Training Sessions

Once training begins you will be trained in a variety of subjects for a total of 40 hours, including court observation. The training sessions may vary depending on the schedule the program has created, but it generally lasts 4-6 weeks and classes are usually about 3 hours.
