A Season of Gratitude

November naturally invites reflection and gratitude. As I think about what this season represents — gathering with family, giving thanks, and recognizing the good around us — I can’t help but think of the children we serve through Georgia CASA.

Every day, children in foster care face uncertainty no child should have to carry alone. At its core, the work of CASA is about finding someone in their corner — a trusted adult who listens, advocates, and stands beside them as they navigate life’s hardest moments. It’s about ensuring that every child in foster care has a voice — and a chance at a safe, stable, and permanent home. That is something truly worth being thankful for.

This mission takes countless hands and hearts, and in this month of thanksgiving, I find myself deeply grateful for everyone who makes it possible.

— The CASA volunteers whose time and compassion bring consistency and hope to children’s lives.
— The staff and program leaders in all 159 Georgia counties who equip and guide advocates in this critical work.
— The donors, board members and partners whose generosity ensures that every child’s voice can be heard.

At my own Thanksgiving table, we often go around and share what we’re thankful for. This year, my gratitude stretches beyond that table — to every person who has chosen to stand up for a child in need.

Because of you, children across Georgia are seen, heard, and supported on their path to safe, permanent homes. And that is the heart of this season — gratitude in action.

As an organization dedicated to supporting children and families in crisis, we recognize that holidays can be a delicate and nuanced time for many. In this series, Purposeful Perspectives, we asked our staff and board members to select a season, month, or day that is meaningful to them to share with our CASA community. Thank you for joining us as we take a deeper look behind the celebrations that fill our lives.
